Revised regulations for road works LN29/2010
LN29/2010 has just been issued on the 15th January 2010. All stakeholders are required to read and familiarize themselves with the new regulations since they have come into force on the 1st January 2010.
Here are some extracts from the law:
- Contractors have to pay to apply for a permit, except whenever the works are carried out on behalf of ADT.
- Prices range from 120 euros for major road works to 2.50 euros for road works in residential roads.
- Emergency permits will be issued at a fee of 12 euros.
- Whenever a person from the authority is called on site a fee of 60 euros per hour or part thereof will be charged.
- A fine of 120 euros will be charged when Authority personnel are called on false emergencies
- The permit fee on arterial and distributor roads is 24 euros.
- A fine ranging from 50 euros to 500 euros shall be charged to the contractor if he does not maintain the  traffic management scheme as agreed.
- Contractors shall be required to pay a charge of between €50 and €500 for each day, or part thereof, where the duration of road works carried out by that contractor exceeds the prescribed completion period without a justifiable reason.
- Where a contractor executes works in contravention of any condition attached to the permit  the Authority, if it considers it desirable to do so, may revoke or suspend the permit as the case may be, and the contractor shall be liable to an administrative fine of €50 for each contravention, which fine shall be withdrawn from the bank guarantee:
