White topping concrete overlays over deteriorated asphalts
Deteriorated asphalt can be white-topped with concrete, without much preparation, saving the cost of full-depth removal of failed asphalt pavement. Concrete can be placed as thin as 2 inches on asphalt bases. The concrete bonds to the asphalt creating a combined structural pavement design. In-use test sites have proven that white-topping provides decades of trouble-free, maintenance-free service. This process is becoming more and more popular as owners realize the economic, aesthetic, environmental and structural benefits of concrete pavements and overlays.
